F L 00 D
Premiering 2026
With F L 00D, Holmes invokes the Corryvreckan Whirlpool: a mythic turbulence where ambition dissolves into elemental indifference. Drawing on this violent geometry, the work surfaces a fractured choreographies caught between the absurdity of their striving and the inevitability of submersion.
Developed in the early stages of F L 00 D, choreographer Wynn Holmes draws on the mythic turbulence of Scotland’s Corryvreckan Whirlpool to explore the clash between human ambition and elemental forces. Both comic and foreboding, this cinematic excerpt offers a glimpse into the tone and world of the full-length stage work, which will premiere in 2026 with LFDT.
The cyanotype animation technique used in this film acts as both material and metaphor - its alchemical process, reliant on sunlight and water, echoes the elemental forces the piece explores. This ancestral, image-making method conjures a mythic, almost archaeological quality, as if each frame were unearthed from deep time. Yet its ghostly blue tones and fragmented textures speak to a distinctly modern unease - of memory eroded, of nature's resurgence, of the fragility of control.
